Wires Ahoy! May 21, 2011

The day I got my full braces. Really want to tweet about how fun my day has been, thanks to B oppa and C chingu, but I’ll tweet a few hours later because it’ll probably get on someone’s already strained nerves. I don’t know how they went about planning tonight, and I’m not the best person to comment so I shall just shut it.
Anyway! Went to sleep at 2 last night, and woke at 6 with a fluttery heart. The feeling brought me back to the day of my A level maths paper (for which I got an E). My mind was racing and I just could not go back to sleep, had no peace of mind. C had said last night it could be I was subconsciously afraid of today, idk. The restlessness had not disappeared. Anw I spent some time with the big man in the sky, slept for another 15 minutes, then got up early and logged on.
Decided to apply my current fave liner, from TFS, to act as a buffer shield of sorts if the braces make me look really ugly. Then realised liner doesn’t look good behind glasses. Ah whatever, no time to redo, and my dentist had smsed me reminding me not to be late. He even scheduled me at 10am instead of the usual 8am (for which I have never been on time). So I cabbed over and spent 40min listening to kpop and trying to calm my heart. Wonder if being that early made up for all the times I was late.
In the dentist chair, I could see my eyes in the mirror and realised I missed out some spots with my left liner. And I was more (thankfully) occupied with how my left liner was asymmetrical with the right and other insignificant stuff along this line. The seperator used to keep my lips up was propped on my gums and it hurt so bad, especially since it was resting on a previously-dentist-caused-ulcer. A few times, mister dentist supported his wrist on the seperator to stick the metal brace onto my teeth and I jumped about a foot off the chair. I was surprised at the height. Didn’t think physics would have allowed it.
Finally got the braces up, and wires in, and he started tightening them. I wanted to bite him, but my teeth weren’t up to the job. The brightest part of the ordeal was when I could CHOOSE COLORS! Was about to get neon pink when an image of a client’s face filled with amusement as she looked at my braces flashed, and I knew I need a more professional color. Pink was your first guess C, you almost got it. But nothing’s stopping me from Christmas colors, though I’m thinking twice about national day colors.
Headed over to NEX to meet the 2 guys, arrived early, got caught by all the sales and started shopping. Got a pair of shoes reasonably cheap, and they were a good fit. It was really an impulse buy – walked past, caught eye, tried size, ok I want it. Less than 3 minutes. But I’m really happy with the purchase. B was later so C and I went to lunch. Hong Kong cafe, and their porridge was good. I liked the texure and fragrance, especially with the massive amount of sesame oil I added.
B arrived and we went for ice cream at Andersen’s.Fondue was disappointing, as fruits were HARD and sour =/ Not fresh one. Ice cream was not bad, fave was rum & raisin, with very strong rum, and it was thick and sweet. Too heavy and cloying for me on the whole, would have enjoyed it more if it were rum & rum. After all the ice cream melted, we did ice cream calligraphy, burnt some marshmallows (we were trying to roast them over a candle flame but got carried away), activated the fire alarm (kidding), burnt more stuff, then paid and left.
Explored the rooftop garden, a really nice breezy place, visited the money changer so many times, went to the arcade, got victoriously violent at the initial D machine, then went to Party World. 2 hours of musical mayhem. It was as much as my braced mouth could take. Went for dinner, then dessert, then I went shopping again, and we parted ways – me to my safe cozy home and them to prepare to set off on the great excursion. I really hope they get some teddy bears. Really a fun fun fun outing.
